Eastern Michigan University’s Occupational Therapy program invites applications for a tenure track position beginning in Fall 2011. Our program has a rich tradition extending back to 1941. Occupational Therapy is one of six programs in the School of Health Sciences, one of the fastest growing Schools in the College of Health and Human Services. The University has been named one of the Best Midwestern Colleges for five years in a row and in 2008 received the Carnegie Foundation designation for community engagement. Eastern is located in the Ypsilanti-Ann Arbor area which affords rich cultural and social opportunities.

Why consider EMU?
• Options for research support/funding and travel monies at the University, College and School levels
• Internal grant funding opportunities for new faculty
• Reduced teaching loads for new faculty
• Support for the development of community and interdisciplinary partnerships
• The OT Program is a highly respected program within the University
• Senior faculty offer formal mentoring to individuals new to the academy
• A wide array of pedagogical and research workshops offered by the University Faculty Development Center

Who are we?
Eastern’s OT faculty is composed of a committed group of educators with active research agendas and strong ties to the community and the profession. We have been successful in acquiring both internal and external grant funding. One of our new faculty members was awarded the Provost’s New Faculty Research Award and numerous faculty have received the Faculty Research Fellowship to support research endeavors. All senior members of the faculty have received teaching awards and there are numerous opportunities for team teaching.

Who are we seeking in a candidate?
You would ideally have a doctorate or have made substantial progress towards the completion of this degree and have a defined research agenda. Experience teaching at the college level and two years of clinical or field experience is desirable. If you want to find an academic home where you can use your skills to teach in an occupation-centered, science-driven curriculum as well as pursue your own research interests, Eastern may be a good fit for you.
